Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has responded to criticism that resurfaced on social media following the circulation of old videos in which he commented on former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Addressing the backlash, the Catholic cleric insisted that Jonathan’s political experience was unique, claiming he had offered the former president advice ahead of the 2015 presidential election but that it was not followed.
“Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s case is different. He decided to fail. I told him what to do to win the election, but he refused. He failed because he disobeyed the advice of a man of God,” Mbaka said.
The cleric made the remarks while reacting to renewed public scrutiny over his past statements concerning Jonathan.
Mbaka’s comments come amid fresh criticism over remarks he recently made regarding the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State. The video sparked reactions from many Nigerians, with some questioning the cleric’s position on national issues.
