US Vice President JD Vance made a light-hearted remark while speaking to reporters during discussions related to the ongoing US-Iran talks in Switzerland. Vance joked that the two most important people in his life are an Indian and a Pakistani.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, JD Vance said, “I often say there are two very important people in my life. One is Indian and the other is Pakistani. The Indian is my wife Usha Vance, and the Pakistani is Field Marshal Asim Munir.”

His comments came during discussions surrounding diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Iran.

US-Iran Talks Focused on Technical Issues

Vance said the talks are currently focused on technical aspects of a possible agreement. Although differences remain, he noted that all parties are now sitting together and working as one team.

He added that the discussions are helping negotiators understand the key concerns of each side and identify ways to resolve them.

Trump Committed to Lasting Peace in the Middle East

The US Vice President said President Donald Trump remains committed to achieving a lasting ceasefire across the Middle East.

Vance said maintaining peace agreements can be challenging, but progress has been made in preserving the ceasefire in Lebanon and promoting diplomatic solutions in the region.

US Looking for Diplomatic Solutions

Vance said President Trump has authorized efforts aimed at creating a fresh start and finding diplomatic solutions.

He expressed hope that countries in the region would work together to promote peace and prosperity in the future.

Iran Assures It Will Not Develop Nuclear Weapons

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran has provided written assurances to the United States that it will not develop nuclear weapons.

Reports also suggest that the US has agreed to return around $6 billion in Iranian funds frozen in Qatari banks as part of ongoing diplomatic discussions.
