Despite a deal being reached between the United States and Iran, tensions between the two countries remain far from over. US President Donald Trump launched a fresh attack on Iran, claiming that the country has been severely weakened and will not receive any financial assistance from Washington.
Trump claims Iran’s military has been crippled
In a series of posts on social media, Trump dismissed criticism from his political opponents and argued that the recent conflict had dramatically reduced Iran’s military capabilities.
‘The War has diminished Iran! It doesn’t, any longer, have an Air Force, a Navy, Antiaircraft Equipment, Radar, or practically anything else,’ Trump said.
He reiterated that Iran’s military strength had been devastated and insisted that the country was in a far weaker position than before the conflict.

Trump also took aim at Democrats, mocking suggestions that Iran may be in a stronger position now than it was a few months ago.

‘yet the Dumocrats say that Iran is better off now than it was four months ago. Can you imagine getting away with that??? How stupid can some people be???’ he said.
The US President argued that the conflict had significantly damaged Iran’s military infrastructure and rejected any suggestion that Tehran had emerged stronger.
‘Iran was desperate for talks, not America’
Trump further claimed that it was Iran, not the United States, that had sought negotiations after the conflict.
‘We were not desperate. Iran was. They are finished,’ Trump said.
He once again ruled out any financial relief for Tehran, declaring that the country would not receive any money from the United States.

‘They will get no money. Not even ten cents,’ he added.
Iranian Supreme Leader hits back
Trump’s remarks came a day after Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, directly criticised the US President. Khamenei claimed that Trump had been ‘desperate’ to secure an agreement and had used ‘all kinds of manoeuvres’ to make it happen.

In his first public statement after the proposed agreement between the US and Iran was signed, Khamenei told the Iranian people on Thursday that he had initially opposed the deal ‘in principle.’
However, he said he later approved it after receiving assurances from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and members of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council that the country’s interests, as well as those of the ‘Resistance Front,’ would be protected.
