Three young men from Plateau State, identified as Kweti Jonathan Menje, Habila Sunday, and Samuel, have been reportedly abducted by terrorists in Kogi State while returning to Jos from Akure, Ondo State, where they had travelled for a business engagement.
The victims, all residents of Jenta Adamu, a community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, were said to have been kidnapped on Monday when the assailants intercepted the vehicle they were travelling in and whisked them, along with other passengers, to an unknown location.
According to a statement shared on Tuesday by the Jenta Adamu Central Youth Council on Facebook, the abductors have since contacted the victims’ families and demanded a ransom of N10 million per person, warning that failure to comply within a stipulated time could lead to the victims being killed.
The statement called on authorities and security agencies to urgently intervene and ensure the safe release of the victims.
It read in part, “Greetings to the good people of Plateau State. We received a distressing report this evening that three of our young men from Jenta Adamu, Jos, were kidnapped in Kogi State while returning from Akure, Ondo State, where they had gone for a business trip.
“The Central Youth Council Jenta Adamu ward (CYC JAW) wishes to bring to the attention of the government, security agencies, and the general public the unfortunate kidnapping of three young men all in their thirties.
“According to information received from their families, the victims were abducted by suspected terrorists while on their journey home. Following the incident, the kidnappers made contact with the families and are demanding a ransom of N10 million each for their release.
“The parents and relatives of the victims have separately confirmed the incident, with their accounts aligning and indicating the seriousness of the situation.
“This disturbing development has caused fear, pain, and anxiety among family members, friends, and the wider community. We therefore call on the Federal Government, state authorities, security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to take immediate action to secure their safe and unconditional release.”
The group also appealed for prayers and support for the affected families, urging members of the public to provide any useful information that could assist security operatives in ongoing rescue efforts.
Security agencies are yet to officially react to the incident.
