Insecurity: “Service chiefs must account for resources spent” – Orji Kalu declares

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing Abia north, has declared that security chiefs must be held accountable for resources appropriated to tackle insecurity across the country.

Kalu spoke on Wednesday while reflecting on senate deliberations on security and public health. The lawmaker said he joined his colleagues in adopting resolutions aimed at strengthening security and improving outcomes in the fight against criminality.

“On security, I joined my colleagues in adopting far-reaching resolutions aimed at moving beyond rhetoric to concrete action,” he said.

Kalu said Nigerians deserve measurable results from resources allocated to security agencies.

“We must ensure that security chiefs are held accountable for the resources appropriated to them and that measurable results are delivered from the interventions and support provided by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the National Assembly,” he stated.

The senator also expressed support for the passage of the bill seeking to establish the National Agency for Malaria Elimination.

He described the legislation as a major milestone in the fight against one of the country’s deadliest diseases.

“I fully supported the passage of the bill establishing the National Agency for Malaria Elimination, a landmark step towards eradicating one of the deadliest diseases affecting millions of Nigerians,” he said.

Kalu said the safety, health and welfare of Nigerians should remain at the centre of government policies and interventions.
