The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its members and the general public to disregard purported lists of candidates from Imo, Abia, Anambra and other affected states currently circulating on social media, describing them as fake and unauthorized.
According to Barrister Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, National Secretary of the party, the lists did not emanate from the party’s national headquarters and should not be regarded as authentic.
Enekweizu stated that the NDC had already submitted the names of its duly nominated candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the appropriate channels in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
He said the party was concerned by the circulation of the fake lists, alleging that they were being promoted by individuals intent on causing confusion and distracting the party from its objectives.
“The lists in circulation are fake and did not emanate from the party headquarters,” he said.
According to him, the party has commenced investigations to uncover the sources of the alleged fabrications and leaks, which he described as desperate attempts to sow discord within the NDC.
The National Secretary reassured party members that the leadership remains focused on strengthening the party and advancing its vision for national transformation.
He added that the NDC remains committed to building a strong political platform capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges and delivering meaningful change through the collective support of its members and supporters.
The party therefore urged members across the affected states to rely only on information released through its official channels.
