Furniture maker docked for allegedly cheating his client of N120,000

A 39-year-old furniture maker, Daniel Nnamdi, was on Tuesday docked in a Dutse Magistrates’ court in Abuja for allegedly cheating his client of N120,000 .

The police charged Nnamdi who lives in Gauraka, Niger State with criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and cheating.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Peace Agbolo, told the court that on May 28, the complainant, Racheal Owolabi, who lives in Kubwa, Abuja  reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station.

Agbolo said that on April 27, the complainant gave Nnamdi N120,000 as part payment for a television console out of the N200,000 he charged her.

She further explained that the defendant however disappeared to Mararaba, Nassarawa State with the money and converted it to his personal use.

The police alleged that during investigation and interrogation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.

She said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 211,309 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.

Magistrate Ibrahim Alkali admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum .

He ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, and must provide a reliable means of identification.

Alkali adjourned the matter until June 8 for sentencing. (NAN)
