Former US Fed chairman Alan Greenspan dies at 100

WASHINGTON – Alan Greenspan, the influential economist who steered US monetary policy during his five terms as chairman of the Federal Reserve under four presidents, died at 100, NBC news reported on June 22.

Greenspan was the head of the Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Mitchell, 79. She is the chief Washington correspondent and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News.
