According to outage-tracking platform Downdetector, complaints began rising sharply around 7 pm IST, indicating that the disruption was widespread and affected multiple regions at the same time.

The outage impacted users in several countries, including India, where people from different cities reported difficulties using Facebook and Instagram. Some users also experienced issues with Facebook Messenger, suggesting that the disruption affected more than one service within Meta’s ecosystem.

Many users turned to other platforms, including X, to check whether others were facing similar problems and to share their experiences.

Reports varied from user to user. While some people said Facebook and Instagram feeds were not loading at all, others reported problems refreshing timelines or logging into their accounts. Several users also claimed they were unable to access specific features within the apps.

Interestingly, some users said the websites were still working while the mobile apps continued to face issues. This led many experts and users to believe that the problem was likely related to Meta’s backend systems rather than internet connections or individual devices.
