The re-election bid of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been dealt a huge blow as former governor of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, dumped him for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Adebayo Simon, ahead of the August Gubernatorial Election.

Oyinlola reportedly endorsed the candidacy of Adebayo over Adeleke as the ex-governor was seen in a video shared on X on Wednesday handing over the APM flag to Adebayo at a political engagement with the leaders and members of the party.

This had largely been considered as the ex-governor’s withdrawal of his support for Adeleke.

Also present at the endorsement of the APM candidate are former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, and former Commissioner for Finance/former National Vice Chairman (South-West) Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo.

The development is coming amid heightened political tension in Osun state ahead of the election slated to hold on the 15th of August.
