The Head of Service of Edo, Dr Anthony Okungbowa on Monday described Edo as the leading state in e-governance among the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
Okungbowa made the remarks while addressing Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and members of staff of the Edo Civil Service in Benin.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was a homecoming reception organised in Okungbowa’s honour to celebrate his Nigerian Public Service Award, presented by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR).
He expressed gratitude for the honour, describing the award as a product of years of dedicated service and Gov. Monday Okpebholo’s unwavering commitment to public service reforms.
“I am deeply encouraged by this pleasant surprise, and I thank God for this opportunity. Most importantly, I dedicate this award Okpebholo.
“This recognition is not only the result of years of hard work but also a reflection of our governor’s commitment and passion for excellence in the civil service.
“We went to Abuja and returned with the top award in Institutional Leadership and Public Service Reforms.
“This achievement was deliberate because the Bureau of Public Service Reforms is the apex reform body in the country.
“For the bureau to recognise Edo means our public service is among the best in Nigeria.
“This award is a call for greater commitment, renewed passion, and improved service delivery as we continue to transform the civil service for the benefit of our people,” he said.
Okungbowa also appreciated the governor for providing an enabling environment that has positioned the Edo Civil Service for national recognition.
Dr Efosa Aisien, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, while speaking on behalf of Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and members of staff of the Edo civil service, commended Okpebholo for creating the conducive environment that made the achievement possible.
Aisien described the award as a national validation of the years of dedication and reforms undertaken by the Edo civil service under the leadership of the Head of Service.
In a goodwill message, Mr Nyamali Joseph described Okungbowa as an exceptional public servant who has consistently demonstrated remarkable knowledge, professionalism, and excellence at engagements both within Nigeria and abroad. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
