An earthquake of magnitude 8.2 struck Mindanao in the Philippines on Monday (June 8, 2026), the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.
The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), GFZ said.
GFZ earlier pegged the earthquake at 7.3 magnitude. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System issued a tsunami threat to the earthquake. Japan and Taiwan also issued tsunami advisory along Pacific coast after Philippines quake.
