Earthquake of magnitude 8.2 strikes Mindanao in Philippines, GFZ says

​An ⁠earthquake of magnitude 8.2 ‌struck Mindanao in the ‌Philippines ‌on ⁠Monday (June 8, 2026), the ⁠German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) ​said.

The quake ‌was at a depth of ‌10 km (6.2 ​miles), GFZ said.

GFZ ⁠earlier pegged the earthquake ‌at 7.3 magnitude. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System issued ‌a tsunami ​threat to the earthquake. Japan and Taiwan also issued tsunami advisory along Pacific coast after Philippines quake.
