Comedian and reality TV star Aderombi Adedayo Martin, better known as DeeOne, has chastised popular gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori for apologising to Nigerians over her remarks on the recent kidnapping of students and teachers by terrorists in Oyo State.
The former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate rebuked the artist in a video that recently made the rounds on social media.
During a live TikTok session addressing the public outcry over the Oyo abductions, Alaseyori claimed that the Nigerian government was addressing security concerns and urged the public to pray for President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies.
She further suggested that spiritual forces might be hindering the operations of security forces searching for the victims.
She said: “We need to pray. You can’t say the President and our armed forces are not working; they’re working. They might have sent security agents to the forest and something will just cover their eyes and won’t allow them to see the terrorists—that’s where prayers come in.”
However, following a severe backlash from netizens and fellow celebrities, Alaseyori posted a video on Wednesday tendering a public apology.
Stating that her remarks were taken out of context, she pleaded: “Mothers, please don’t be angry with me. I beg you in the name of Jesus Christ, you will never bury your children. I beg you in God’s name, please forgive me if I spoke as if I’m insensitive.”

Reacting to her apology, DeeOne, who claimed that Alaseyori spoke “in the spirit” during her livestream, blasted her for doubting the divine guidance leading her.
He argued that she apologised under pressure, choosing to displease God to please humanity.
Deeone said: “Pressure made you apologise. You had to displease God to please men.
“Mrs Yinka Alaseyori, first of all, I want to thank you and thank God for your ministry. God has used you a lot, but what you did today, please don’t ever try it again. There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end thereof is destruction. You were in the spirit when you were saying those things about people needing to pray. I want to believe that it was God speaking through you, but you lost an opportunity to evangelise to the world.
“I can bet 100% that you did not seek the face of God before you made that apology video. Na pressure make you go do that thing [it was pressure that made you do it]; you apologised because people were dragging you. Maybe you were worried that they wouldn’t book you for events anymore or that people wouldn’t like you. The Bible says, ‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.’ No be all of us wey dey drag go feed you [not everyone criticizing you feeds you]. If you were in doubt, you should have gone back to God on your knees. You’re a minister of God, not just an entertainer.
“Is what you said wrong? No. But pressure made you apologise. You chose to displease God to please men, and there will be spiritual repercussions—I hope you know that. Under no circumstances should you ever do that again. I don’t know who advised you, but whoever did gave you poor counsel. I’m sure the host of heaven is disappointed, but God is a forgiving Father.
“I’m not trying to hype anyone up here, but look at people like Testimony Jaga; they remind some of us of how the disciples followed Jesus. Jesus isn’t gentle; He is rugged.”
