Davido Takes Kidnapped Children’s Case to World Cup; Wears Names of Victims

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken the campaign for the release of the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and teachers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup as he unveiled the outfit he is set to wear at the opening ceremony of the sporting event.

Davido who is set to perform at the opening ceremony on Thursday unveiled his outfit which bears all the names of the 49 kidnap victims of the last month’s attack in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo state.

As seen in a video shared on his X handle on Wednesday, the customised black jacket contained green round studs with names of the kidnap victims inscribed on them.

At the back of the jacket is a bold inscription which read “Bring Them Home”.

Speaking in the video, Davido expressed his condolence with families of the kidnap victims and the murdered teachers.

“We pray for peace and love everywhere. May God be with the families of the abducted and the ones that have been killed.

“This is a very serious situation. We pray to God every day. The country is going through a lot.” He said.

Though the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, failed to make it to the 2026 World Cup, the Davido will however be raising the country’s flag high as he will be headlining the event with performance alongside fellow artistes, Burna Boy and Tems.
