Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, on Wednesday, adjourned until June 16 judgment in the trial of one Busiyi Faniyi, 49, charged with concealing information on crime to security agencies.
Faniyi had earlier at his arraignment on April 28 pleaded guilty to the charge of concealing information on terrorism from security agencies.
Subsequently, the Department of State Service (DSS) presented its facts and called witnesses who gave evidence to the defendant allegedly selling AK47 guns to terrorists and concealing information from security agencies
At the resumption of proceedings, Agomoh adjourned the matter after the counsel to the DSS, Mr T.A. Nurudeen, told the court that the case was adjourned for judgment and not hearing on plea bargain.
Following the mix up, Nurudeen therefore requested for full trial of the suspect.
The prosecutor had told the court that Faniyi allegedly committed the crime on Dec. 7, at Gbopa area of Ologuneru in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Nurudeen further added that Faniyi was fully aware of the fact that one suspect, simply identified as Peter, was dealing in arms and ammunition, and selling to terrorists, but refused to report same to security agencies.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 1271 of the Terrorism Prohibition and Prevention Act 2022. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
