Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media aide, Mr. Paul Ibe, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to formally engage Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho and request that he disclose the identities of those he claims are behind the abd¥ction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Ibe made the appeal in a post online, on Thursday, arguing that if Igboho genuinely possesses information about those responsible for the kidn@ppings, security agencies have a duty to engage him and use that intelligence to accelerate efforts to rescue the victims.
He stressed that every available option must be explored to secure the safe release of the abd¥cted individuals.
His remarks follow Igboho’s earlier claim, made while receiving members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), that he has knowledge of the politicians behind the abd¥ctions and would expose them publicly if the criminal activities do not stop, according to reports making rounds on social media.
Ibe also used the opportunity to question the Tinubu administration’s response or apparent lack thereof to the reported abd¥ction of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, on May 15, 2026.
He accused the government of remaining silent over the Borno incident while directing significant attention to the Oriire case, and asked why the same level of concern and action extended to Oyo State had not been replicated for the victims in Borno.
He further questioned when Borno and other vulnerable states would receive forest guards similar to those deployed elsewhere, and criticised what he described as a pattern of waiting for tragedies to occur before taking meaningful steps to address insecurity across the country.
