Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has claimed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is likely to have a dismal outing during the 2027 elections.
The presidential spokesperson made this known on Friday while responding to questions during an interview on Symfoni TV.
In the 2023 election, the incumbent, President Tinubu, was declared the winner by the electoral umpire after scoring 8,794,726 votes. In second place was Atiku with 6,984,520 votes, Peter Obi came third with 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso came a distant fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
However, while rating the chances of the ex-VP—who is the flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the next general elections draw closer—Bwala fears he might come fourth this time around.

He went on to say the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Obi, might secure more votes than Atiku in the 2027 polls.
He further noted that the Adamawa State-born politician came second in 2023 because the party under which he contested, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), had several governors, senators, and Reps who supported him, adding that the party cannot boast of a single governor right now.
Bwala said, “I fear Peter Obi might get more votes than Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 election, and my other fear is that he might come a distant fourth.
“If that happens, his legacy as a politician in his last attempt could be affected. In the 2023 election, the PDP had several governors, senators, and Reps who supported him, but right now, there is not a single governor backing him.
“The fact remains that Atiku Abubakar has never historically commanded more votes from the North-West in his political career.”
