The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has officially announced its National Chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, as its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections, marking a major step in the party’s preparation for the upcoming political race.
Nwanyanwu was confirmed as the party’s flag bearer during a special convention held in Abuja, where delegates unanimously endorsed his candidacy and expressed confidence in his leadership and vision for national transformation.
In his acceptance speech, he outlined a reform-driven agenda focused on addressing Nigeria’s long-standing challenges, including corruption, insecurity, unemployment, and the country’s unstable electricity supply. He described corruption as one of the biggest obstacles to development, insisting that it has weakened public institutions and slowed progress across key sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
He pledged that if elected, his administration would enforce strict accountability measures, strengthen anti-corruption agencies, and ensure that stolen public funds are recovered and channeled into development projects that directly benefit citizens.
On security, Nwanyanwu expressed concern over the rising wave of banditry, kidnappings, and violent crimes across the country, noting that insecurity has disrupted economic activities and left many communities in fear. He promised a comprehensive security overhaul that would improve intelligence gathering, enhance coordination among security agencies, and introduce stronger community-based policing to improve grassroots safety.
He also highlighted Nigeria’s power crisis as a major barrier to economic growth and industrial development, pledging reforms that would improve electricity generation and distribution while encouraging investment in the energy sector. According to him, a stable power supply is essential for job creation and sustainable economic progress.
Nwanyanwu further called for national unity, urging Nigerians to rise above ethnic and political divisions in order to build a more accountable and transparent system of governance. He emphasized that collective effort and responsible leadership are essential to move the country forward.
