Priscilla Ojo, the daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, has revealed why she spoke up for her mum during the backlash over her movie.
Speaking with Chude Jideonwo, she said she wanted to be the one to speak up because her mother always stands up for people; unfortunately, they don’t reciprocate it.
She noted how everyone her mother had stood up for was silent, so she didn’t care about the backlash and wanted to defend her to stop feeling empty.
“I wanted to be the one to speak up for my mom when there was a b@cklash for her new movie. She’s always standing up for people, but when it was her turn, everyone was silent, so I didn’t care if people would drag me. I just didn’t want her to feel empty”.
Elsewhere in the interview, she applauded her for singlehandedly raising her and her brother without their father. She disclosed that she never felt she lacked a father figure in her life because her mother played both roles very well.
Refreshing your memory, at Iyabo Ojo’s movie premiere, Funke Akindele had snubbed Toyin Abraham’s greetings. In a viral clip, Funke was captured sitting with Iyabo and Mercy Aigbe when Toyin walked to greet her and she ignored her.
Defending her mother, Priscilla noted that since her mother announced her movie, there had been back-to-back controversies. She pointed out how there is a pattern aimed at ruining Iyabo’s plans, but God is stronger than man. The influencer noted that when her mother is quiet, they twist the story; when she speaks, they get angry about the truth and still twist it.
That wasn’t the first time, Priscilla had defended her mother. During Iyabo’s beef with Very Dark Man, she threw shade at him, citing his two-time visit as a resident in Kuje prison. This jab didn’t sit well with Very Dark Man, as he fired back, insinuating that Priscilla and her mother, Iyabo, had slept with the same man for money.
While celebrating Mother’s Day in March, Priscy described her mother as the best in the world and expressed her appreciation for the love she poured into her. According to Priscilla, her mother’s love for her is the reason why she can pour love into her son.
In an interview, while speaking on the biggest lesson she learnt from her mother, she said she had never been depressed before because she comes from a lineage of strong women. Priscilla described Iyabo as a strong woman who she has never seen cry.
