President Bola Tinubu has labelled the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as ‘landlord’.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Tinubu made the remark while the duo exchanged pleasantries on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Wike and a few other government officials were at the airport on Sunday to receive the president, who returned from Lagos State.
In a video, President Tinubu could be heard telling the former Rivers State Governor, “Landlord, you are back?”
Recall that Wike has been in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, to ensure that his loyalists scale through the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state.
Meanwhile, International media personality, Donu Kogbara, has criticised Wike over his alleged support for another Ikwerre candidate in the Rivers State governorship race.
Kogbara said it was insensitive for Wike to back Ogundu Kingsley Chinda as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
She stated this on Thursday while speaking on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television.
Chinda, an ally of Wike, had on Thursday emerged as the APC governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kogbara described Chinda as a good person but said he should not have accepted the governorship ticket.
She argued that Rivers State had produced several governors from the Ikwerre ethnic group and that another Ikwerre candidate should not be promoted at this time.
