African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja turned violent on Saturday.
PrimeTimes Nigeria learnt that the chaos began when party stakeholders, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senator, Ireti Kingibe, met ahead of the distribution of materials for the senatorial primary held on Saturday.
The Chairman of the election committee, Abubakar Adams Chika, and the secretary, David Godwin, had summoned the stakeholders to the FCT chapter of the party’s secretariat to explain the process for the exercise.
However, the peaceful meeting was reportedly invaded by one Tijani Mubarak and four others, who disrupted the gathering with sticks.
Tijani immediately confronted the committee chairman over the refusal to honour an invitation to a private discussion, leading to a heated exchange, as captured in the video online.
Tijani was allegedly against the election of Ireti as the party’s candidate for the FCT senatorial election, but she had been declared the winner of the primary election.

In other news, former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared himself the most qualified and electable presidential aspirant in the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, said his leadership experience and relative youth put him ahead of other aspirants vying for the party’s presidential ticket.
He spoke on Friday during an interview on Arise Television.
The ADC presidential race includes former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, and former Northern Nigeria Development Company boss, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Asked why the ADC should choose him over other aspirants, Amaechi said he had held major leadership positions that gave him an advantage.
