Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested suspected terrorists, a Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, and drug peddlers during operations across the North-East.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.
According to the statement, troops deployed at Ngamdu in Yobe State arrested two suspected terrorists, Haruna Adamu, 32, and Ibrahim Adamu, 20.
Items recovered from them include mobile phones, a power bank, an identification card, suspected illicit substances, charms, and other personal effects.
The military said preliminary findings indicated that the suspects fled from Zamfara State into Yobe State.
In a separate operation, troops of 254 Battalion arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad, at Ngamdu Market.
The suspect, who was on a watchlist, was found with cash, a mobile phone, identification cards, charms, a knife, and a notebook containing phone numbers of suspected terrorist contacts.
The military described the arrest as a major disruption to terrorist intelligence networks.
Troops also arrested five suspected drug peddlers during a night operation in Mubi area of Adamawa State. The suspects were found in possession of ammunition and are currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, troops, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, rescued two kidnapped victims, Barnabas Apagu, 12, and Ruth Apagu, 10, in Madagali Local Government Area.
Efforts are ongoing to rescue other victims still in captivity.
In another development, troops recovered a hand grenade in Kukareta area of Yobe State, suspected to have been abandoned by fleeing terrorists.
The military high command commended the troops and urged them to sustain ongoing operations.
