A Lagos-based female model and thrift vendor popularly known as Fems Thrift, has decried a magistrate court’s ruling on her rape case.
The lady disclosed that the magistrate had dismissed the suit in a no case ruling despite evidences against the rape suspect simply identified as Emmanuel.
According to reports, the suspect had in February allegedly raped the lady and her friend after inviting them to his residence in Ajao Estate for what turned out to be a fake model shooting.
He was alleged to have raped the ladies at knife point.
The suspect was eventually arraigned to court following police conclusion of investigation over the case.
He would however be discharged with the court only ordering him to sweep as the case against him was ruled out.
Fems Thrift made this known in a video posted on X on Thursday shortly after the court’s ruling.
She disclosed that the court gave the ruling based on the recommendation of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) despite providing evidences to the court.
“In my front, dem say make he go sweep backyard. Na punishment be dat. I’m hustling. I went to go and work and they raped me at knife point.
“They retrieved the knife and video. He collected my nude from my phone and was threatening me with the nude.
“Now court said there is no case. For four months I was living in fear. My Mum dey beg me make I chop.” She said.
The visibly disappointed lady recalled her struggles since the incident as she accused the court of denying her fair hearing.
“From here to Ojo is N15k. I spend N30k to and fro and I’ve been here three times. Now you are telling me there is no case?
“What about the Doctor’s report from Mirabel? What about the evidence they bought from his house?
“Why will they do something like that? We did not go on trial. I did not get to express how I was feeling. And he came to court and was making fun of me.” She said.
In a separate video, she further explained how the DPP had declared the no case verdict without presenting the evidence against the suspect before the court.
“When they called the case and the Emmanuel guy, they said it is the DPP’s advice that they will use to judge the matter.
“The DPP said there is no case. We did not go trial. They did not even give us chance to say what happened.
“They said there is only statement from the incident.
“Meanwhile when we got to the police station, I wrote statement. My friend and another of my friend wrote statement.
“The knife that they retrieved from the boy’s house. With all that evidence and my friend’s chat with him, they said there is no case.
“They did not release him on bail. They struck the case out.
“Since February, four months, that we have been going from station to court, there is no case.
“They did not even bring the Doctor’s report. They said there is no penetration.” She said
