ABDUL-Azeez Adediran, an APC chieftain and former governorship aspirant, says party members voted for President Bola Tinubu during the primaries for unity, economic growth and democratic consolidation.
Adediran spoke on Saturday after joining party faithful and leaders in participating in the presidential direct primary election at Ward G, Irewe, in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Adediran, the Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, recently announced his withdrawal from the 2027 governorship race after obtaining the nomination form.
The move followed Tinubu and APC leaders’ endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as consensus governorship candidate.
Addressing newsmen after participating in the presidential primary, Adediran said the massive participation reflected confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to continuity beyond 2027.
According to him, the peaceful exercise also demonstrated growing support for the APC, its progressive ideals and ongoing reforms.
“President Bola Tinubu deserves this overwhelming turnout because Nigerians believe in continuity, stability and the long-term development agenda of his administration.
“The enthusiasm witnessed today shows that party members and supporters remain committed to sustaining the progress already achieved under his leadership.
“This exercise is beyond affirming a candidate. It reflects the determination of Nigerians to support national unity, economic growth and democratic consolidation.
“This overwhelming participation is a strong demonstration of unity, loyalty, and commitment to the ideals and vision of the APC.
“We have affirmed Tinubu as the preferred presidential candidate,and we are very proud about the endorsement,” he said.
Adediran said party leaders must strengthen grassroots mobilisation and encourage wider political participation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reaffirming commitment to grassroots mobilisation and national progress, Adediran said the responsibility of party members and leaders extended beyond declarations of support.
“The real task ahead lies in deepening grassroots engagement, strengthening political participation, and mobilizing citizens toward national development and democratic consolidation.
“We must continue mobilising Nigerians toward sustainable development, inclusive governance and national cohesion.
“The orderly conduct witnessed today proves that democracy thrives when people freely participate in peaceful political processes.
“I commend APC members across Ojo Local Government and Lagos State for their dedication and unwavering belief in the party’s vision,” he said.
He said nation-building required sacrifice, collaboration and collective commitment from both leaders and citizens.
“Nation-building requires continuous sacrifice, service, and collective commitment from leaders and citizens alike,” he added.
Adediran stressed the need for sustained collaboration in advancing a future driven by economic stability, inclusive growth, sustainable development and national cohesion.
He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue to support efforts aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and promoting good governance nationwide. (NAN)
