Former Big Brother Naija housemate Pere Egbi has shared details of his final conversation with actor Alex Ekubo before the actor’s death.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Pere made the revelation in an emotional social media post where he expressed shock and sadness over the development. He said he had felt the urge months earlier to reach out to Alex just to check on him and pray for him.
According to Pere, the conversation now means more to him after the tragic news. He also used the moment to advise people to regularly check on loved ones because life is short.
Screenshots of their direct message exchange showed that on August 11, Pere contacted Alex to ask how he was doing. Alex later replied on August 15, saying he was fine and also asked about Pere and his family.
Pere responded by saying he was in the United States hustling and was happy to hear from him. He added that people should always check on one another because life is short.
The exchange later turned into prayers between both men, with Alex praying for God’s protection over Pere, while Pere also prayed for Alex in return.
Alex ended the conversation by thanking Pere for checking on him and appreciating the gesture.
“Jesus!!!!!! Jesus… this one hurts. I had the nudge to reach out to you months ago, just to check on you and pray for you. You didn’t say much… but now that moment means even more to me. Life is short. Please check on people while you still can. Rest well, my brother Alex. May God guide you home. 🕊️💔”, he wrote.
