Victor Osimhen has emerged among the standout performers in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League season after finishing joint-top in the competition’s Player of the Match rankings released by UEFA.

The Galatasaray striker earned four Player of the Match awards during the campaign, placing him alongside Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Paris Saint-Germain winger Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappé and Francisco Trincão as the players with the highest number of individual match honours.

Osimhen played a key role in Galatasaray’s run to the Round of 16, helping the Turkish champions progress past Juventus in the knockout play-off round before their European journey ended with a 4-1 aggregate defeat to Liverpool.

UEFA’s Technical Observer Group selected the award winners after every Champions League fixture, with recipients presented with an official trophy following each match.

The Nigerian international claimed his awards during Galatasaray’s victories over Liverpool, Bodø/Glimt and Ajax, as well as in the club’s dramatic knockout play-off clash against Juventus.

Meanwhile, PSG midfielder Vitinha was named Player of the Match in the Champions League final after the French side defeated Arsenal 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time in Budapest.

Other notable performers during the season included Ousmane Dembélé, who collected awards in both legs of PSG’s quarter-final tie against Liverpool and the semi-final first-leg victory over Bayern Munich, while Arsenal captain Declan Rice was recognised for his displays in the knockout stages.

UEFA’s season rankings highlighted the consistency of Europe’s leading stars, with Osimhen’s inclusion among the competition’s top performers underlining another impressive campaign for the Super Eagles forward on the continental stage.
