Gov. Shariff Oborevwori of Delta (m) addressing newsmen after declaring Presidential Bola Tinubu winner of Presidential Primary Elections in Delta on Saturday in Asaba
GOV. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has said that All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections was a litmus test for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the remark while addressing newsmen on Saturday in Asaba after the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the Presidential Primary Elections in Delta.
He noted that President Tinubu securing a total of 407, 646 votes from APC registered members alone was a good omen for the party ahead of the general elections.
Oborevwori thanked God for the massive support for Mr President in the state, adding, ”if internal democracy is right, victory becomes sure.”
He said that Tinubu’s insistence on direct primaries was the right thing to test the party’s strength before the general elections.
”The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHAs) played a vital role in mobilising registered members of the party to come and cast their votes during the primaries.
“Our terrain, particularly in the riverine area, is very difficult to access but our people mobilised to ensure they voted.

“These votes came from 270 wards across the state; we massively mobilised a total of 407,646 votes for President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
Oborevwori thanked God for the acceptance of President Tinubu which, he said, showed that APC was ready for 2027.
He said that due processes were followed during the primaries and everything worked well, adding that the results would have been different if the party had imposed candidates on the people.
He explained that President Tinubu insisted on direct primary even if any aspirant was returned unopposed.
“The results showed that those who cast their votes for us are sure votes for 2027 but we have to do more to campaign and mobilise more votes for our party.
“We are sure of victory for all our candidates come 2027; this is because as a government, we are investing in infrastructure and it is showing and people are happy,” Oborevwori said. (NAN)
