A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has condoled with his former running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, over the death of his younger brother.

Obi conveyed his condolences in a statement posted on his verified 𝕏 handle on Friday.

The former presidential candidate said he shared in the grief of the Baba-Ahmed family during the difficult period.

Obi wrote, “I deeply mourn with my dear younger brother Datti Baba-Ahmed over the passing of his beloved younger brother.

“My thoughts and earnest prayers are with him and the entire Baba-Ahmed family in this moment of grief.”

Obi prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and strength for the family to bear the loss.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength and patience to bear this painful loss, inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

“May Allah comfort all who mourn and reward patience with peace. Indeed, Allah is the Best of planners,” he added.

In other news, Obi has shared a personal experience from the United Kingdom (UK) while speaking on governance and security issues affecting Nigeria.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that in an interview on News Central TV, Obi explained that he once bought a new car in the UK, but it was later stolen.

He used the incident to compare how different countries respond to crime and how their systems function.

He said that in places like the UK, incidents such as theft are handled through structured processes that enable quick action and clear tracking of events. He added that such systems are built on strong rules, quick response, and accountability from institutions.
