Plateau State Governor, Caleb of Mutfwang, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket to run for a second term as he emerged winner of the party’s primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

Mutfwang emerged winner having secured the highest votes in the APC governorship primary in the state.

Mr Fidelis Mnyim, the Chairman of the Election Committee for the state, declared Mutfwang winner on Friday in Jos.

According to Mnyim, Mutfwang polled 233, 335 votes to defeat his rival, retired Commodore Yilchini Bida, who scored 3,070 votes.

“As the chairman of this committee, I wish to declare that Caleb Mutfwang, having scored the highest votes and satisfied the requirements of APC constitution, as the winner of the primary.

“Therefore, he is returned as the elected governorship candidate for Plateau in the 2027 general elections,” he said.

Recall that Muftwang had last year defected to the APC after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Like other defecting governors, he cited the leadership crisis within the PDP as reason behind his defection from the party.
