Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has reflected on what he considers his biggest shortcoming this season, stating that his failure to help the club win trophies is the one thing he genuinely regrets.
The French superstar made the admission during a post-match interview following Real Madrid’s 2-0 LaLiga victory over Real Oviedo on Thursday.
Mbappe was candid in his assessment, insisting that everything else being said about him amounts to mere opinion, while his inability to contribute to silverware for the club remains his only real regret.
He also addressed the controversy surrounding his mid-season vacation, clarifying that his absence was fully sanctioned by the club and dismissing speculation about his motivations.
He stressed that his sole focus remains winning titles. The forward also revealed that the suggestion he was unwilling to play was what hurt him most amid the criticism he faced.
Despite the difficult season in terms of team honours, Mbappe has been in exceptional individual form, currently leading the scoring charts in both LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League.
