The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mohamed Buba Marwa, has visited two NDLEA officers receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, after they were badly injured during a violent mob attack in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory.
The officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, sustained severe injuries during a raid on a notorious drug joint on May 15, 2026, when suspected hoodlums reportedly attacked the operatives.
Marwa visited the injured officers at the hospital on Monday and assured them that the agency would fully cater for their welfare and medical treatment until they recover completely.
“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested, and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa said.
The NDLEA boss described the officers as courageous and committed, praising what he called their professionalism during the high-risk operation in Dawaki.
He said their sacrifices in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse remained invaluable to the country, adding that the agency would continue to stand by personnel injured in the line of duty.
As part of efforts to recognise their bravery, Marwa presented official Letters of Commendation signed by him and approved additional support packages to aid their recovery.
He also commended the NDLEA medical team and doctors at the National Hospital for stabilising the injured officers and ensuring they received prompt care.
Marwa maintained that the anti-narcotics agency would remain focused on dismantling drug cartels and clearing communities of illicit substances despite attacks from criminal groups.
