Pep Guardiola secured his 20th trophy in his 10th season as Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final.
New signing Antonio Semenyo scored the only goal of the match. Erling Haaland provided a strong assist for the winner. Earlier, Haaland had fired City ahead in the first half, but the referee correctly ruled the goal offside.
Rodri then rose to head the ball, but Joao Pedro blocked it bravely. City kept passing the ball well yet failed to test Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez.
At the other end, João Pedro created a chance, but Abdukodir Khusanov defended well. Pedro slipped as he shot, and James Trafford easily collected the ball.
In the 27th minute, Matheus Nunes squared the ball for Haaland to tap home, but the goal was disallowed because the right-back stayed in an offside position before Semenyo played the pass.
Later, Semenyo jinked past Marc Cucurella but blasted his shot wide for a throw-in. Chelsea then enjoyed a spell of control, but they could not create any real threat.
Just before half-time, Haaland forced the first big save of the game as Sánchez turned his powerful strike behind.
After the break, Guardiola brought on Rayan Cherki. The French player quickly created danger. He passed the ball wide to Nico O’Reilly, who crossed for Semenyo, but the forward headed over the bar.
Chelsea grew stronger. Rodri cleared Moisés Caicedo’s header after Trafford gave away a cheap corner. Wesley Fofana failed to direct Reece James’ cross on target.
However, in the 72nd minute, the City fans exploded with joy. Haaland cut the ball back, and Semenyo produced a clever flick that crept inside the far post for 1-0.
Enzo Fernández nearly equalised straight away, but Manchester City held firm. Sánchez made good saves to deny Nunes and Cherki, but the Sky Blues stayed in control.
In the end, City did enough to win their second Wembley final of the season. They lifted the FA Cup for the eighth time in their history and equalled Chelsea’s total.
