Manchester United has awarded Micheal Carrick a permanent job as the team’s new head coach following his stellar managerial performance which earned the Red Devils a third-place finish in the English Premier League.
Carrick who took over as interim head coach following the sacking of Reuben Amorim in January.
Amorim was shown the exit door barely 14 months after his appointment with the frustrating 1-1 draw against Leeds United serving as the final straw for the Portuguese gaffer.
Following his sacking, Man United appointed Carrick as the interim head coach.
The former Red Devils player revived the team and lifted them from the 6th spot on the table to a third-place finish.
Having secured a UEFA Champions League spot for the club, the Manchester United’s hierarchy announced the appointment of Carrick as a full-time head coach.
This was made known in a club statement issued on Friday.
The management of the club expressed delight with his appointment.
“We are delighted to announce Michael Carrick will continue as our head coach, having signed a new contract,” United said in the statement.
