Manchester City have appointed former Chelsea’s Head Coach, Enzo Maresca, as Pep Guardiola’s successor following the departure of the Spanish coach.
Guardiola had yesterday bid farewell to the Cityzens after an illustrious 10 years with the club where he won 20 trophies.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach took the helm of affairs at the Ethiad Stadium in February 2016.
In the wake of his departure after the end of the 2025/2026 season during which he led Man City to a domestic double, the club reportedly secured the signing of Maresca to charge of the club.
While no club statement has been issued to confirm the development, Maresca’s signing was disclosed in a post shared on X on Tuesday by popular football agent, Fabrizio Romano.
According to Romano, the former Chelsea boss agreed to a three-year-deal with Man City.
“Enzo Maresca has already signed a three-year deal as Manchester City new manager.
“Agreement until June 2029 and new chapter to start soon at #MCFC, with Maresca fully involved in the transfer strategy. Here we go, 100% confirmed.” The football agent wrote.
Prior to Pep’s departure, Maresca had strongly been tipped to succeed the Spaniard having been his protege while working at Man City as a member of Guardiola’s coaching staff.
Maresca left the club to become manager of Leicester City in a brief stint before joining Chelsea ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
He was however dismissed less than two years later after a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge.
According to reports, the 46-year-old managed 92 matches at Chelsea, recording 55 wins, 16 draws and 21 defeats.
Maresca was also reported to have clashed with Chelsea’s board in the weeks leading up to his exit, while speculation linking him with Guardiola’s role had already intensified before his dismissal.
