THE Kano State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and community-oriented policing.
This, it said is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa made this known in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria NAN in Kano on Tuesday.
Haruna-Kiyawa quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori disclosing this during a strategic meeting with all supervising officers at the Command Headquarters in Bompai, Kano.
According to the command’s image maker, the meeting aims to review operational strategies, reinforce discipline, and align the command’s actions with directives from Force Headquarters.
Haruna-Kiyawa said the CP conveyed the appreciation of IGP to officers for their dedication, sacrifice, and measurable gains in crime fighting and management across Kano State.
The CP noted that recent successes in intelligence-led operations, arms recovery, and rapid response resulted from improved coordination and professionalism at the supervisory level.
He directed officers to embrace the IGP’s vision by upholding accountability, transparency, and integrity in all operations and administrative processes.
“Strengthen community policing engagements through regular stakeholder meetings, intelligence sharing, and collaborative problem-solving with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and civil society organisations to build public trust,” he urged.
Adamu-Bakori also called on officers to remain firm and decisive, resist external influence, and ensure all actions were guided by the rule of law and respect for human rights.
“Fear God and act as custodians of public trust by maintaining discipline, neutrality, and exemplary conduct at all times.
“Enhance supervision and mentorship of junior officers to eliminate unprofessional conduct and ensure quality service delivery at divisional and outstation levels.
“The IGP’s directive on enhanced community policing is central to modern policing and crime prevention,” the CP said.
He warned that any officer found guilty of unprofessional conduct, extortion, abuse of power, or dereliction of duty would face disciplinary action without exception.
Adamu-Bakori added that the command would continue to reward diligence and sanction misconduct.
The CP urged Kano residents to sustain their cooperation with the police by providing timely and credible information to support proactive policing. NAN
