IBEDC Customers To Experience Power Outage As TCN Announces Maintenance

National Grid BlackOut

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned six-hour power outage in some communities in Ogun State on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The company said the outage would affect customers in the McPherson, University and Ogunmakin areas between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

In a statement posted on its 𝕏 handle on Thursday, TCN said the interruption was necessary to allow its engineers to carry out scheduled maintenance on the 40MVA 132/33KV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation.

The General Manager, Public Affairs, TCN, Ndidi Mbah, said the exercise would enable the company’s technical crew to conduct preventive routine checks on the transformer.

Mbah said the maintenance was aimed at ensuring continued optimal performance and reliability of the equipment.

She said, “The maintenance exercise is to enable TCN crew to undertake preventive routine checks on the transformer to ensure continued optimal performance. Consequently, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to its customers in McPherson, University, and Ogunmakin during the period of the maintenance.”

IBEDC Customers To Be Affected

TCN explained that because of the maintenance work, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) would be unable to supply electricity to affected customers during the period.

The company said the exercise was part of efforts to improve service delivery and reduce the risk of unexpected faults on the transmission network.

TCN apologised to residents, businesses and other electricity consumers who would be affected by the temporary outage.

The company urged customers in the affected communities to bear with the inconvenience, assuring them that supply would be restored after the maintenance exercise is completed.
