Nigerian filmmaker Chinney Love has written a heartbreaking post following her mother’s burial.
Sharing a video from her mother’s burial in the East, the award-winning filmmaker said the 2nd of March, 2026, is the day she got a call that changed her life forever, and on the 22nd of May, her mother was laid to rest.
She described her late mother as her strength, love, pillar, prayer warrior and everything. Chinney said she would trade anything to have her mother come back, but she believes God’s will must prevail.

My strength, my Love, my pillar, my Prayer warrior, my everything submitted to the will of God….
I would trade anything to have my mother come back, but I guess the will of God will have to prevail.

Kemi Filani reported in March that the award-winning filmmaker had announced the death of her mother on her Instagram page.
Marking her posthumous birthday, Chinney said this was the first time she wasn’t able to call her on her birthday, and it felt strange. She said she was still trying to figure out how to navigate life without her, as her mother was her everything.
While planning her mother’s burial, Chinney had vented over the difficulties of organising burials in the East. She revealed that she was sick, frustrated, angry, tired and fed up and questioned why Igbo culture makes things hard for children who want to bury their parents.
In March, Mofe Duncan had lost his father, Josbert Thomas Kofi Duncan. Sharing the sad news on his Instagram page, he revealed that his father passed away on the 10th of March, 2026. The actor said that though his heart is broken, it smiles cause he knows the angels are watching over him.
Davido’s aide, Israel DMW, had lost his father. The 002 performing artist shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram page, posting photos of himself and his father over the years as he affirmed his undying love.
Yoruba actress, Faithia Williams lost her mother on the eve of her 55th birthday party. She said the reality of her passing hasn’t fully sunk in because she was her cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner.
Early this year, actor, Dakore Akande and brother, Timini Egbuson, had announced the passing of his father. Timini said he never thought he would start the year by saying RIP to his dad, and promised to continue to make him proud.
His sister, Dakore Akande, expressed how heartbroken she is, yet glad that he was free from pain. She expressed gratitude for the memories and laughter, the legacy of excellence that he instilled in them, and his love for music and looking stylish.
Also, losing a parent earlier this year was famous comedian, Alibaba, who lost his mother. Alibaba’s wife, Mary Akpobome, had paid an emotional tribute to her, recounting her last visit, which she described as the most treasured.
