RIVERS: A woman has triggered emotional reactions after she was reportedly caught stealing bananas from a lonely compound and severely beaten by an angry mob before confessing that hunger and hardship forced her into the act.
According to reports, the incident happened earlier today when people noticed the woman allegedly attempting to sneak away with bunches of bananas believed to belong to the owner of the compound. Her movement reportedly raised suspicion, leading some persons to stop and question her.

Moments later, the situation escalated after several people gathered around her and accused her of theft. In the middle of the confrontation, the woman reportedly broke down in tears and admitted that she intended to sell the bananas so she could provide food for her children.
“I wanted to sell the banana to feed my children,” she reportedly said while pleading for forgiveness from the crowd.
Witnesses said some angry youths attacked the woman before and passersby stepped in to calm the situation. Residents around the area were also seen begging the crowd to show mercy after hearing her explanation.
