Federal High Court Judge, Yunusa Dies In Kano

A judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa, is dead.

The court’s Director of Information, Dr Catherine Oby Christopher, confirmed the death in a statement.

According to the statement, Justice Yunusa died on May 21 after a brief illness. Until his death, he served in the Kano Division of the Federal High Court.

Christopher said the late judge died at the State Medical Centre, Kano, and had been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

“His Lordship passed away at the State Medical Centre, Kano, and has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites,” the statement read.

The Federal High Court described Justice Yunusa as a dedicated and upright judicial officer.

The statement added, “Hon. Justice M. N. Yunusa was a distinguished jurist who served with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the administration of justice.

“His immense contributions to the Bench and the legal profession will be fondly remembered and greatly cherished by his colleagues, members of the outer Bar, court staff and all who had the privilege of working with him.”

The Chief Judge, judges, management and staff of the Federal High Court extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

The statement said, “The Chief Judge, judges, management and staff of the Federal High Court extend their heartfelt condolences to members of his immediate family and pray that the Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.”
