Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, for the 2027 general election.
Duke secured the party’s ticket after polling the highest number of votes at the PRP presidential primary held on Tuesday in Abuja.
The result was announced at the party’s national secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory by the National Chairman of the PRP, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
Three aspirants contested for the party’s presidential nomination.
According to Baba-Ahmed, Donald Duke scored a total of 6,499 votes to defeat his closest rival, Kingsley Yakubu, who ran a nationwide campaign centred on youth inclusion and economic reform and secured 2,699 votes.
He further announced that Dr Nnaoke Ufere, an academic and policy expert, came third with 784 votes.
Declaring the outcome of the exercise, Baba-Ahmed described the primary as peaceful, transparent and conducted without bias.
He, however, urged any aggrieved aspirant to channel complaints through the party’s Appeal Committee for proper review in line with party procedures.
