At least seven clubs will participate in the second phase of the 2026 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) scheduled to hold in Kaduna from May 29 to May 31.
The three-day competition will take place at the Murtala Muhammed Square during the Sallah celebrations.
The participating clubs are Kada BSC, Kebbi Fishers BSC, BAM Projects BSC, Ibom BSC, Jigawa Golden Stars BSC, Niger BSC and defending champions Anambra Warriors BSC.
The teams will compete for vital points ahead of the Super Four finals later in the season.
League leaders Kada BSC are expected to enjoy home support as they seek to maintain their lead on the table.
The first phase of the 2026 NBSL season was held in March in Kebbi, where the clubs began their campaigns.
At the end of the first phase, Kaduna-based Kada BSC emerged as the best-performing side and currently lead the standings with 10 points.
Kada BSC hold a six-point advantage over second-placed Kebbi Fishers BSC and BAM Projects BSC ahead of the Kaduna phase.
Kebbi Fishers BSC remain the most successful side in the history of the league, having won the title in 2021, 2023 and 2024.
Kada BSC won the title in 2022, while Anambra Warriors BSC are the defending champions after securing their maiden title in 2025.
The 2026 season marks the sixth edition of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League since its inauguration in 2021.
Speaking ahead of the competition, Mahmud Hadejia, President of the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU) and National Coordinator of the league, assured fans of exciting matches during the Kaduna phase.
“We are expecting another thrilling phase in Kaduna because all the participating teams are fully prepared and determined to fight for victory,” he said.
Hadejia added that the league had continued to provide a platform for the development of beach soccer talents across the country.
Also speaking, Chinedu Okeke, coach of Anambra Warriors BSC (defending champions), said his team remained confident of retaining the title in spite of stiff competition.
“Every club wants to beat the champions, so we must stay focused in every match.
“We are coming to Kaduna with the mentality of defending our crown,” he said.
Coach Usman Bello of Jigawa Golden Stars BSC, described the Kaduna phase as crucial to his team’s hopes of qualifying for the Super Four finals.
Similarly, BAM Projects BSC coach, Emeka Nwosu, said fans should expect entertaining matches throughout the competition.
Head coach of Kada BSC, Ibrahim Musa, said his players were determined to maintain their lead and make home supporters proud.
