… Hails Okpebholo, NDDC over reforms, infrastructure drive

USEN – The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Edo State Polytechnic chapter, has passed a vote of confidence on the institution’s Rector, Nosakhare Liberty Arodoye, while commending the Edo State Government and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for what it described as renewed attention to the school.

The union lauded the administration of Monday Okpebholo for swiftly taking over salary payments of staff of Edo State Polytechnic, describing the move as unprecedented and highly impactful.

In a communiqué issued after an emergency congress held at the Usen campus, ASUP said the integration of the institution’s salary structure into the Edo State payroll system came as a pleasant surprise, adding that it had restored confidence and morale among staff.

The union stressed that the governor’s intervention reflected strong commitment to repositioning the institution, noting that workers were already experiencing renewed stability and optimism.

ASUP also commended ongoing infrastructural upgrades being carried out by the Niger Delta Development Commission, particularly the construction of internal roads within the campus, describing it as the first of such large-scale intervention in recent years.

“We are glad that our school has caught the attention of the governor and the NDDC. It has never been this good,” the union stated.

The congress also resolved to issue a formal letter of appreciation alongside a vote of confidence in the Rector, noting that Arodoye’s leadership had brought visible transformation across departments and academic structures.

According to ASUP, several departments are now better positioned for accreditation, especially at the Higher National Diploma level, while practical improvements are evident across the campus.

The union, however, urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts in tackling insecurity across the country, warning that rising threats were endangering academic stability and national development.
