The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says it has screened 114 aspirants seeking to contest seats in the State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed this shortly after the conclusion of its screening exercise in Gusau.
According to the party’s spokesperson in the state, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji, the aspirants are vying for 24 seats in the Zamfara State House of Assembly under the APC platform.
He said 105 aspirants were screened during the exercise, while nine others were absent despite purchasing nomination forms.
Birnin Magaji said the party had earlier notified all aspirants to participate in the screening process, adding that the exercise remains open for those yet to appear.
“We have sent out announcements and invitations to these aspirants to show up for the exercise,” he said.
He explained that the screening committee is still reviewing candidates and would communicate the outcome of the process to aspirants after completing its assessment.
“We are in the process of clearing those who have no problems, so at the end of the exercise those who are without any blemish will know, and those with one or two issues to clear will know,” he added.
