A former banker and economist, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has become the first presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to formally submit completed nomination forms ahead of the party’s presidential primary for the 2027 election.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Hayatu-Deen submitted the forms in Abuja on Wednesday evening, further consolidating his early lead in the race after previously emerging as the first aspirant to obtain the party’s expression of interest and nomination documents.
The development signals the beginning of intensified political activities within the ADC as the countdown to the 2027 general elections gathers momentum.
Addressing supporters shortly after submitting the forms, Hayatu-Deen said his ambition was driven by the urgent need to address Nigeria’s worsening economic challenges and insecurity.
According to him, his administration, if elected, would focus on reducing the rising cost of living, creating jobs and restoring safety across the country.
He said his government would prioritise “aggressively lowering the skyrocketing cost of living,” while also unveiling “a clear roadmap for mass job creation.”
The presidential hopeful also pledged to implement “a strategic plan to end insecurity across the federation.”
Hayatu-Deen’s early moves may position him as one of the leading contenders within the ADC ahead of the party’s primary election. The party is expected to witness heightened political activities in the coming weeks as more aspirants are anticipated to declare interest in the presidential race.
