Abuja: The Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Chairmen’s Forum, Kingsley Ogah, has urged party members to remain united and committed to national transformation.
Ogah made the call during the party’s non-elective special national convention held in Abuja, attended by executives, delegates, aspirants, youth leaders and supporters from across the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the special convention in Abuja was convened by a faction of ADC, led by Dumebi Kachikwu.
Welcoming delegates, Ogah described the convention as historic, saying it marked a new chapter for ADC and reaffirmed members’ commitment to democratic values and national development.
He commended party members across the federation for their sacrifices, loyalty and resilience despite intimidation, distractions, internal challenges and attempts to weaken the party’s structure.
“To every loyal member who refused to abandon this party during difficult moments, we appreciate your sacrifice, courage and continued belief in the ADC vision,” he said.
Ogah also commended state chairmen, youth leaders, women groups and grassroots supporters for defending the ideals and credibility of the party across communities nationwide.
According to him, ADC remains committed to progressive leadership, accountability, inclusion, discipline, fairness and internal democracy as guiding principles for sustainable political development nationwide.
Ogah said Nigerians were searching for a political platform capable of restoring public trust through competence, integrity, compassion, courage and responsible national leadership.
“Nigerians are tired of deception, corruption and failed promises. They seek leadership built on trust, responsibility, economic growth and sustainable national security,” he stated.
The ADC chairman acknowledged challenges confronting political parties, noting that every strong movement experiences periods of trials, setbacks and moments of internal difficulties occasionally.
He, however, maintained that ADC had survived its challenges because members remained committed to promoting a responsible political culture and credible democratic alternatives nationwide.
“Our future remains bright. Across the country, party structures are improving, membership is expanding and Nigerians are identifying with our message of responsible governance,” Ogah said.
He urged members to place party interests above personal ambitions, warning that indiscipline, sabotage, violence and disunity could weaken the party’s collective aspirations and credibility.
Ogah called on members who felt discouraged or sidelined during internal processes to reconcile with the party and support efforts toward rebuilding stronger structures nationwide.
“This is the time to restore confidence, strengthen unity and recommit ourselves to the collective mission of building a credible political alternative for Nigerians,” he said.
He said that millions of Nigerians were facing economic hardship, hunger, unemployment and insecurity, stressing that citizens deserved leadership driven by integrity, truth and accountability nationwide.
According to him, ADC must continue presenting practical solutions to national problems, while inspiring hope and confidence among citizens through issue-based political engagements nationwide.
While expressing optimism about the party’s future, he said that the sacrifices of loyal members would not be wasted as ADC continued growing stronger nationwide.
“Together, we shall rebuild stronger structures, deepen internal democracy, restore public confidence and prepare the party for a brighter and more prosperous future,” he added.
