2027: NDC Fixes Presidential Nomination Form At N60m, Releases Primary Timetable

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled the fees for its 2027 general election nomination forms, with presidential aspirants required to pay a total of N60 million.

According to the party’s timetable, governorship aspirants will pay N30 million, while those seeking Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats will also pay varying amounts.

The schedule was released in a statement jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.

The party disclosed that the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for all elective positions will commence on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and close on Monday, May 18, 2026.

It explained that aspirants would undergo screening and interviews from May 19 to May 21 before becoming eligible to purchase nomination forms. Sales of nomination forms are scheduled for May 21 to May 23, while completed forms must be submitted on or before May 25.

The NDC added that appeals arising from the screening exercise would be entertained on May 25 and 26, while party primaries for various offices would hold on May 27 and 28.

The party’s presidential primary election is slated for May 29, 2026, in Abuja.

The statement further noted that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level, while State House of Assembly aspirants would be screened within their respective states. Screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants, however, will take place at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

According to the party, all aspirants will be required to sign undertakings in line with its code of conduct and electoral guidelines.

The NDC assured members and aspirants of what it described as “a transparent, inclusive and democratic process” throughout the primaries.

Part of the statement read: “The party remains committed to a transparent and democratic process that guarantees fairness, inclusiveness and internal democracy in the conduct of its primaries.”

The party also announced plans to adopt the “open secret ballot” system during the primaries to enhance transparency and credibility.

Under the approved fees, presidential aspirants are expected to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form, bringing the total to N60 million.

Governorship aspirants will pay N10 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N20 million for the Nomination Form.

Senate aspirants are to pay N3 million and N5 million respectively, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N2 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N4 million for the Nomination Form.

For State House of Assembly seats, aspirants are expected to pay N1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form.

The party maintained that its nomination fees remain among the lowest charged by major political parties in Nigeria.

The NDC also announced concessions for women and persons living with disabilities. Female aspirants will pay 50 per cent of the approved fees, while persons living with disabilities will enjoy a 75 per cent waiver across all categories.

The statement added that the party is committed to presenting credible candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
