The Spokesman of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habibu Mohammed, has dismissed defection talks between the chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, and President Bola Tinubu.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Mohammed, during an interview with ARISE Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Friday, admitted that Kwankwaso and Tinubu have a long-term relationship, stressing that the duo had previously worked together several times at the National Assembly and were also key figures who brought the All Progressives Congress (APC) to life.
Mohammed clarified that Kwankwaso declined Tinubu’s offer to work with him during the early days of his administration.
According to him, Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State, does not need anyone to push him to work with the President.
He noted that Kwankwaso had already established a working relationship with former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, before his earlier defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He said, “In the early days of Tinubu’s administration, he invited Kwankwaso for a private meeting to discuss working with him, which Kwankwaso later disclosed.
“However, Kwankwaso declined to work with Tinubu’s administration.
“Before Kwankwaso’s defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, he had already established a working relationship with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.”
