Troops of the Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, have uncovered 3,250 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products during an anti-bunkering operation in Rivers State.
Security sources said the discovery was made at about 7:00 a.m. on April 20 along Refinery Road in Eleme Local Government Area, during a patrol by troops attached to LCSF MST 1/2.
The substances, believed to be linked to illegal refining activities, were found at the site as part of routine security operations targeting oil theft and economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.
According to the sources, the recovered products were handled in line with the operational guidelines of Operation Delta Safe.
They added that efforts to clamp down on illegal bunkering have been intensified across the region, as security agencies move to safeguard critical national assets and curb losses associated with crude oil theft.
