Troops under Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully repelled a suspected terrorist attack in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
PrimeTimes Nigeria learnt that the incident occurred on April 29 at about 4:30 p.m. in Jarhawa village, where suspected terrorists reportedly launched an attack against residents.
Details of the attack were disclosed in a post shared on Thursday by a security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to security sources, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Sabon Birni responded promptly after receiving a distress call from the community.
The soldiers were said to have moved quickly to the scene, forcing the attackers to flee upon sighting the advancing troops.
During the incident, one civilian sustained gunshot injuries. The victim was, however, immediately attended to following the arrival of security operatives.
Makama stated that normalcy has since been restored in the area, with troops maintaining a strong presence to prevent further attacks.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and ensure the safety of residents in the community.
Meanwhile, a faction of Boko Haram, identified as Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, has declared that its 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian government has expired, raising fresh concerns over the safety of abducted civilians in Borno State.
The group claimed it is prepared to begin executions of captives following the collapse of negotiations.
In a video message, a spokesperson for the group said all discussions with authorities had ended.
“The 72-hour deadline we gave you has already expired… now there is no discussion,” the spokesperson stated, insisting that the group would act on its threats.
The insurgent group also dismissed ransom talks, describing earlier figures as unofficial and insisting that financial offers would not influence its position.
The group warned against any attempt to carry out military rescue operations, claiming such actions could lead to further civilian casualties.
It also mocked government efforts to respond to the situation, while issuing threats directed at public figures.
