THE ECOWAS Commission, through its Directorate of Free Movement of Persons and Migration and Directorate of Research and Statistics, organised a Regional Training on the Development of the ECOWAS Guidelines for Migration Data Collection and Management in Praia, Republic of Cabo Verde, from 20 to 23 April 2026
Convened with the support of the International Organization for Migration, IOM, the International Labour Organization, ILO, and other technical partners under the Free Movement of Persons and Migration Programme, the meeting responds to the growing need for reliable, harmonized, and policy-responsive migration data systems in West Africa amid changing labour mobility patterns, demographic shifts, environmental pressures, and broader regional integration dynamics.
